Human rights and agriculture are closely interrelated. Given the importance of the agricultural sector for food security and freedom from hunger, the right to food seems to be of particular relevance. This also holds true for Kenya, where about 80 % of the population live in rural areas and derive their livelihood from agriculture and where still 50.6 % of the population lack access to adequate food.
